SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN PROJECT, EAST ELMHURST, NY (ACCENTURE SKILLS TO SUCCEED GRANT RECIPIENT) 

South Asian Women Project provides holistic services to Bangladeshi women survivors of gender-based violence.  The grant will fund a women’s support group “Chayer Adda” to provide education, resources and skill building training.

SNEHA, WEST HARTFORD, CT (HITESH S. BAROT ACCESS TO JUSTICE AWARD)

Sneha is an all volunteer organization with a primary purpose to serve women of South Asian origin (and their families) in education for empowerment, particularly survivors of interpersonal violence in Connecticut.  The funds will be used to provide survivors with legal, financial, and other resources as well as other supportive services (i.e., grocery, transportation, etc.).

SOUTH ASIAN LEGAL DEFENSE AND EDUCATION FUND (SALDEF), WASHINGTON, DC

SALDEF holds itself as the nation's oldest organization dedicated to civil rights-related advocacy for Sikh Americans. SALDEF plans to use the funds as part of a larger community leader/grassroots 101 know-your-rights/advocacy training for select community leaders to advance knowledge to their communities such as in the sphere of voting rights.

SEWA-AIFW, BROOKLYN CENTER, MN

SEWA is a nonprofit serving, supporting, and enhancing family wellness for the South Asian community, especially the vulnerable and underserved, in Minnesota. Sewa has specific plans for the funds for expanding reach to Afghan evacuees and sustaining existing services of rental assistance, financial literacy education, driving lessons, grocery and childcare support, legal assistance, and the like.

SOUTH ASIAN LEGAL CLINIC OF ONTARIO (SALCO) AND DON VALLEY COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICES (DVCLS), ONTARIO, CANADA

SALCO is a not-for-profit legal clinic that was created to enhance access to justice for low-income South Asian communities, DVCLS is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario.  The Foundation grant will help fund their project to create social media videos for a ‘Tareekh Pe Tareekh’ campaign to expand outreach out educating in need populations on their rights and resources in familiar languages.
